It's incredible that with so much crime around, drug squad officers still have to arrest a man for smoking a cannabis cigarette in Lowestoft ("Drug Offence", 23 May).
Lee Broughton, who was spotted opening his car door with a joint, was ordered to pay a fine of £30 and £25 costs.
The £30 would certainly not have paid for the time that the officers spent on the case, which I am sure they would agree would be better spent catching criminals with victims and the £25 costs would be far short of the court expenses for the session.
The public pay the rest. Is there anyone left out there that can show any sense in that?
