Cannabis plea Derrick Large Letters, Romsey Advertiser, Hampshire Thursday 11 May 2000 Following the recent by-election, I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Mrs Sandra Gidley on her well-earned victory and to wish her all the best in her new career. The voters of Romsey have chosen the best candidate to succeed Michael Colvin in representing their needs and concerns. I would like to thank the other candidates for conducting a fair contest and would also like to offer a big thank you to all of the election organisers and assistants, whose help and support has been invaluable in easing this "election novice" through such a daunting process. Lastly, but not least, I'd like to thank all 417 electors who put aside other political concerns to vote for the Legalise Cannabis Alliance. People who recognise the real damage that the present cannabis laws are causing to our society and demand a change. During campaigning we met many others, who were appalled that ill people were still being prosecuted for using natural cannabis. To this end, I urge Mrs Gidley to demonstrate her compassion and support the following Early Day Motions. EDM 3, MEDICINAL CANNABIS 17.11.99 Flynn/Paul that supports the simple change in the law recommended by the House of Lords Select Committee on Science to allow a limited number of doctors to prescribe cannabis to named patients in the same way that millions of other prescriptions are now dispensed. EDM 557, THERAPEUTIC USE OF CANNABIS 22.03.00 Mitchell/Austin, calling in the meantime, to prevent the law being brought into disrepute, that the police be instructed not to prosecute ill people who grow or purchase cannabis for their own exclusive use with the written support of their doctor. Yours etc Derrick Large Legalise Cannabis Alliance Kings Somborne Hampshire
