Aiming to create a safer, cleaner city for everyone Sarah Homes Letters, Evening News, Norwich Sunday 23 Apr 2000 I am standing as a Legalise Cannabis Alliance candidate for various reasons, most of which derive from my long-held belief that it is wrong to punish people for using a plant. It is very relevant to a very large number of people in Norwich who live in fear of arrest. I also believe that people should be able to live in Norwich without fear of pollution. Norwich is a beautiful city, cultured, historically attractive, with much to offer. However, it is a relatively small city and we should not have to endure the worsening problems of pollution. The gases emitted from vehicles passing through or driving round the city and the pollution from certain factories, are a health hazard that must be dealt with as a priority. If I win this election, I will be in a position to try to help create a cleaner, safer city. By the way, I do not smoke cannabis. I do not like it. But that is my personal choice and I cannot see why someone else should be punished for making a different choice.
