Malaysia: Drug Trafficking: One Sent To The Gallows, The Other Acquitted
Bernama Wednesday 30 Sep 2009 Judicial Commissioner Zainal Azman Ab Aziz handed down the sentence after finding that the defence had failed to raise any doubts in the case. Nasir, 31, was charged with committing the offence at a road block in Taman Wilayah at 4am on Jan 7, 2004. In handing down the sentence, Zainal Azman said that the defence statement by Nasir was made up and could not be accepted, especially on his claim of a involved, but the person fled. In another case, Zainal Azman ordered M. Muniyaretnam, 45, to be acquitted and discharged from a drug trafficking charge as the prosecution had failed to establish a prima case against him.
