Thanks you for publishing the letter from Stuart McClaren (EN, April 14) bringing attention to the Green Party's drugs policy.

The Green Party has recognised the social use of cannabis in our society and to people voting in our elections.

The lifestyle use of cannabis is drawn from the Dutch model where the use and sale of cannabis has been decriminalised throughout Holland for the past 30 plus years. Yes – 30 plus years, celebrated by holding a Cannabis Cup Event annually.

Is this a problem?

Mr McLaren says there is a problem with self inflicted harm. He is wrong. The problem is that all the other main parties (Labour, Conservative and Lib Dems) have policies that can destroy the lives and property of any citizen that has anything to do with drugs. Freedom of choice is freedom to choose, and I for one will be proud to choose and vote Green
