UK: Should cannabis be legalised for medical purposes?

The debate to legalise cannabis for medicinal purposes is back in the spotlight after Australia became the latest country to look at changing it's laws about the drug.

Here in the UK, the issue has been brought to our television screens with Coronation Street's Izzy considering taking Cannabis to ease her pain.

We're joined by 25-year-old Alex Fraser who suffers with Crohn's Disease and uses cannabis every day to cope with the symptoms of his condition. He says he'd rather be illegally healed than legally sick.

The Home Office has told us there are no plans to decriminalize cannabis, and the evidence shows it is a harmful drug which can damage peoples' mental and physical health.
