Patricia Tabram made the best cakes and soups in her Northumberland village
thanks to a special ingredient - cannabis.

The 66-year-old retired restaurateur put together a kitty with other
pensioners to buy the class C drug for "medicinal purposes".

The grandmother from Humshaugh, near Hexham, used cannabis in food to guard
against the effects of tinnitus, mild depression and pains after a car crash.

Mrs Tabram explained: "The first time I had it, it was a friend who gave me
a cannabis cigarette, but that only gives you a high for about 30 minutes.

"I researched it on the internet and found that if you took just a little
bit of it with your food the effects last for five hours or more.

"So I started to make cannabis chocolate cake and that covered all the pain
I had so well. I cook for everybody, all the neighbours, and I am teaching
them so they can cook some of the things themselves."

Mrs Tabram said she is planning to write a cookbook of all her favourite
recipes, entitled Grandma Eats Cannabis.

The pensioner was cautioned last year for possessing cannabis and growing
32 plants in the loft of her bungalow.

But only one month later, she was caught again, this time with UKP850 worth
divided into bags for distribution.

Appearing in court wearing a black cardigan and spectacles, Mrs Tabram
pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply. She will be sentenced
on March 11th.
