I FEEL that the prison sentences given to the so-called "Norwich Drugs Ring" were extremely harsh and unjust.
If they are so dangerous to society that they need to be locked away for so long where are' their victims? Who are the people that have been hurt by them?
The use of cannabis is a crime without a victim. The only people hurt are the users and their families when the drugs squad burst into their homes and disrupt family life. On the same day as these five people were sentenced, two men were given six years for armed robbery. On the next day, a woman got four years for killing her friend.
Where is the justice in these sentences compared to 10 years for supplying cannabis or six years for being marginally involved with cannabis?
It seems to me that to get a short prison sentence you have to kill or rob, but if you do not do anyone harm but are involved with cannabis it is a much greater crime.
