Lee Elswood,
owner of Somerset hydroponics, takes Home Secretary and Norwich MP Charles
Clarke to task over his views on cannabis.
I am
writing with reference to Mr. Charles Clarke MP and his refusal on any grounds
to talk to the Legalise Cannabis Alliance and its and his constituents at the
LCA's annual national conference which is to take place at the UEA on the
February 19.
His
refusal, he has stated, is down to the fact that he has no respect for the organisation
or the people involved . Through his refusal he has (as many before him )
missed a vital chance to talk directly to the people that know the political,
social and economic implications directly attributed to the cannabis community.
He
would have found if he had bothered to look into the organisation and its
supporters, that the vast majority of cannabis user do not want a
"cannabis for all policy" as most have strict personal policies on
age groups that want or need to use cannabis, as with medical users.
The
list goes on and on but unfortunately Mr. Clarke will not have the chance to be
"politically surprised" by the LCA's views and policies .
Yet
again the people that need to be spoken too are being ignored. It seems that
most policies around this subject are based on outdated stereotypes of cannabis
users. Mr.Clarke, if you would like real information to help you make real
decisions then ask shop owners, organisations, web-based public forum owners
etc.
We see
and hear on a daily basis the implications and results of governments'
decisions on this subject and would be happy at any given time to help you make
policies that work for us.
And
not forgetting the country has a massive lack of voters - if this government
would like those millions of votes that no one has had for many years, then
make real moves to get them.
We
know how many of those non voters are cannabis users and you do not seem too,
so maybe you should look into that Mr Clarke.
