Unbalancing our

BEING a bit of a gorilla gardener (someone
who grows his or her herbs in the wild) in this area over the last 10 or so
years has made me think of the Leigh Sports Village site and all the argument
surrounding this project.
I feel I must point out to everybody in
the area that out of all the open grass covered areas in Leigh, the site chosen
for the LSV is actually the only open area with soil beneath the grass.
All the other areas consist of coal
industry waste and construction waste like brick concrete and clay.
So in Mother Nature terms, the
environment and wildlife will definitely be severely unbalanced in this area in
the future and that is a fact.
But never mind nature and the
environment, not many people in our society these days understand or know how
to respect it.
I’m not blaming them personally, when you
look at all life’s so-called luxuries in our way of life it’s no wonder people
have forgot or can’t be bothered with it.
But to hear the people who do speak up on
these issues being called ridiculous and made to sound like enemies of the town
this upsets me because they are thinking of the future environment of the
town. Looking at the plan of Leigh,
alternative sites already damaged by industry are scattered around Leigh and
could have accommodated these facilities.
So why has such an environment friendly council decided on this site?
