CANNABIS CAMPAIGN MAN'S CASE DELAYED

LEGALISE Cannabis campaigner Patman Denning will be tried at Manchester Crown Court in September charged with possession of the drug.

Mr Denning, pictured above, of Borodin Court, Old Farm Park, was due to appear there on Friday with 10 others but his case was adjourned until June.

The 37-year-old, who suffers multiple sclerosis and claims smoking the drug relieves his pain, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

He was arrested outside a Stockport police station with 10 others who are alleged to have lit up cannabis cigarettes on November 24.

He was there to protest against the arrest of his friend Colin Davies, who opened Britain's first Amsterdam-style coffee shop in November. But police raided the premises and closed down the cafe.

Davies was charged with allowing cannabis to be smoked on the premises, cannabis possession and intent to supply.
