UK: Spotlight on cannabis at Capital conference
Edinburgh Evening News
Thursday 21 Apr 2005 THE Scottish Tobacco Control Alliance is set to host Scotland's first conference on tobacco and cannabis today. The summit, which will call for a new approach in dealing with both substances, will take place at the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street, at 9.30am. Maureen Moore, chief executive of ASH - Action on Smoking and Health - (Scotland) wants a more thorough understanding of how tobacco and cannabis are used together and is keen on better training and awareness for smoking cessation and drug action workers. Ms Moore said: "The use of cannabis and tobacco together is an issue in Scotland, especially for young people. "There is evidence that young people are using tobacco and cannabis together and that they are unaware of the specific health risks this entails."
