Tuesday 20 Dec 2005 A senior pupil at a school in the Highlands has been suspended for possessing drugs, it has emerged The cannabis was found during a search operation at Kingussie High School on Monday, involving police with sniffer dogs and school management. Pupils received a warning about drugs earlier this year. They were told police could be called in at any time to carry out random searches if they received information about drugs. "We carried out a drugs awareness day earlier in the year and pupils were warned then that such an operation was a very real possibility." A council spokeswoman said pupils from the second to sixth year had been involved in the search. Head teacher Eddie Broadly wrote to parents saying: "I continue to be concerned about any drugs-related activity within the school population. "I continue to urge everyone associated with the school to be vigilant at all times. "We can never be too careful where these matters are concerned." It is not the first time the school has been involved in headline-grabbing controversy.
