UK: Cannabis Fugitive Captured

News & Star, Carlisle, UK

Wednesday 19 Oct 2005

----
A CUMBRIAN cannabis dealer has been arrested in Holland after
three-and-a-half years on the run.

Forty-five-year-old Alan Mason fled Carlisle on January 23, 2002, after
he was convicted of possession with intent to supply.

When police raided his home in Stonegarth, Morton, they found 51
cannabis plants worth £7,500 and an elaborate lighting, heating and
irrigation system.

He has been hiding in Holland for the past three years and was caught
after applying for Dutch citizenship.

Mason broke his cover twice last year to give interviews to the News &
Star from Holland.

Mason was arrested in Zaandam, Holland, late last week. He is now facing
extradition to the UK.
