Don Barnard Legalise Cannabis Alliance
Wednesday 21 Dec 2005 Press release from the Cannabis Alliance Let the starving eat cake over Christmas - So long as it is not made of hemp? POTTY POT LAWS - TANTAMOUNT TO GENOCIDE! Agriculture considerations make hemp (aka Cannabis) the food crop of the future world wide. however, Because of various political factors, starving people in many of today's underdeveloped countries are not allowed to take advantage of the Cannabis Hemp plant. ....In some countries, government officials class cannabis hemp as a drug and pull up the crop. "This is a truly sad state of affairs", said, Don Barnard of the Legalise Cannabis Alliance. EXAMPLE: (Africa) - iafrica website (Wed, 15 Sep 2004); "A hemp growing project which offers hope to small farmers in the poverty stricken Eastern Cape could be derailed because hemp is still an illegal substance. Department of Health rules which lump hemp together with dagga could scupper plans for the effective mass production and marketing of the fibrous hemp plant" ...Continues 84 lines. Full article: http://iafrica.com/news/sa/1600.htm "This is an extreme example of how 'marijuana' (Cannabis) prohibition impedes the free market agricultural economy" Said Mr. Barnard...."What is especially disconcerting in this article is the absence of reference to hemp seed's exceptional food value. No other plant source provides complete protein in such an easily digestible form or contains the oils essential to life in as perfect ratio to maintain health...Hemp seed is a complete single food source for human nutrition - See HEMP seed [1] Consider this: "A long time ago, the country of Bangladesh was one of the richest countries in Asia. Bangladesh grew Cannabis Sativa, or Indian Hemp as it was known, and produced and exported from this prodigious and fast growing weed, everything from rope to clothing, paper, and mineral and edible oils. Today this same Country is the basket case of Asia. What happened? The answer is simple. Along came the U.S.A. and Britain and declared that Cannabis could no longer be grown because it might contain an element of drug marijuana. This "terrible" drug that Bangladesh was growing could, they insisted, destroy the western world. This was totally erroneous because the hemp grown in Bangladesh contained less than I % of THC while marijuana usually contains up to 14% THC. Well, that didn't matter! The rich and rewarding hemp plantations of Bangladesh were wiped out and the country's economy crashed and has never recovered." (Source Belize Development Trust) This report concluded: "Now and not later is the time to move quickly and start a hemp industry that is not rooted in colonial history, trade favours, and subject to U.S. dictates, but which is wholly Belizean and self-sustaining." The Belize Development Trust Report is available on request - approximately 1000 words Suggested resources: - 100'S of research documents on the agricultural/other uses of Hemp (aka Cannabis) to beat the politician over the head with. can be found at the UN University website, http://www.unu.edu and type "HEMP" in the search - Worldwide debate/media reports on hemp http://www.mapinc.org/hemp.htm If I can be of further assistance please contact me.
