UK: No U-turn on cannabis
The Scotsman
Thursday 19 Jan 2006 CANNABIS will not be reclassified to make possessing it a more serious offence, the government is set to announce. Despite speculation about a U-turn that would return cannabis to its status as a class B drug, Charles Clarke, the Home Secretary, is expected to tell MPs today that there will be no change. Instead, officials said, Mr Clarke will announce a fresh government PR drive to explain the precise legal and medical consequences of the drug. The Conservatives have also dropped calls for a change. http://news.scotsman.com/politics.cfm?id=89212006
