Cannabis is the driving problem

Unlike your correspondent Don Barnard, I have no trouble accepting
strict enforcement of the laws against drug driving

It scares me to think of the number of people driving while doped up on
drugs - medical as well as illegal.

I would have no objection to these people being taken of the road.

The only problem is-as always its seems- cannabis.

Cannabis user will test positive weeks after a smoke, so roadside
chemical test are of no use for spotting stoned drivers and would really
be no more than an enforcement tool for it' continued prohibitions. I
do feel it's important that any road safety programme of drug driving
enforcement should be just that, and not a way of propping up the 1971
Misuse of Drugs Act.
