Italy: MP's puff spliffs away outside Parliament

AGI Online

Tuesday 07 Feb 2006

----
Rome, Feb.7 - Some centre-left MPs smoked spliffs outside the parliament
to protest against the new law on drugs, being voted by the Lower House.
Their slogan was "let's blow away the Fini law": Paolo Cento, Elettra
Deiana, Graziella Mascia, Giovanni Russo Spena, Vittorio Agnoletto and
Titti De Simone passed each other a joint (mainly to show it to the TV
cameras), thus violating what they defined a repressive law on drugs.
Agnoletto said that cannabis is not harmful, and that is used in several
countries in some tumour therapies. The square outside the parliament
was enveloped in an orange smoke, let off by about 200 demonstrators
protesting against the law. (AGI) -
