US: Bush complains again about Dutch Drug Policy
Rotterdams Dagblad
Friday 17 Sep 2004 Bush complains again about Dutch Drug Policy Washington The United States persist in their criticism over the Dutch approach of drugs. In a yearly report, sent to Congress by the White House yesterday, President Bush states among other things that "the dutch fail to deal adequately with the war against the synthetic drugs trade." The Dutch liberal legislation and the reluctancy to enforce more severe laws on money laundering by drug producers contributes to the trade in illegal drugs. "We feel the need to do more and work harder to disrupt the criminal organisations responsible for the production and international trade in synthetic drugs" according to Bush. Financial research "We remain concerned about obstacles against mutual legal assistance and extradictions by The Netherlands" according to Bush. The war against drugs would be enhanced if Washington would have its way. "First of all we want to use financial research to fully exploit the possibilities available in anti money laundering legislation. Financial investigators should find drug gangs, dismantle them and seize the profits from drug trade." translated by mario lap, drugtext, http://www.drugtext.org/
