Indonesia: Australian woman arrested in Indonesia for cannabis possession

Tuesday 21 Feb 2006 The Australian manager of small resort hotel on the Indonesian Island of Lombok is facing a possible ten year jail sentence for possession of cannabis and cannabis seeds. Our correspondent in Jakarta, Peter Cave, says according to police in Lombok, which lies next to Bali on the Indonesian Archipelago, Barbara Cathleen Higgs runs the Bulan Baru resort with her husband. She has been charged with possession of about 50 grams of cannabis and two small bags of seeds. Police say the woman, aged 43, was arrested on Sunday at her house at Sengigi Beach. The couple who run the hotel, which is popular with Australian tourists, have been residents for about five years.
