Fiji: Marijuana uprooted in Navosa

Friday 03 Mar 2006 Police have raised concern about the increase in drug cultivation in Fiji after 172 marijuana plants were uprooted in Navosa yesterday. Assistant spokesperson Corporal Josaia Weicavu confirms that the plants with a street value of more than $20,000 was confiscated after a raid by the Navosa police. He said most of the drug cultivation is believed to be occurring in the Navosa area and urgent steps are being taken by police to address the issue.
