---
A 33 year old Tongan man, Pangi Puloka has appeared in the Nuku’alofa
Magistrates Court charged with the illegal importation of two kilograms
of marijuana from Fiji.

In court, it was revealed that on 04 February, a nervous Puloka arrived
on an Air Pacific flight from Fiji and abandoned a suitcase containing
the drugs when he saw that passengers getting off the flight were being
searched on arrival at Fua’motu international airport.

It was also revealed in court that police were able to trace the bag,
sent by a Mary Robinson from Fiji, to the Friendly Islands Bookshop in
Tonga. Puloka’s bag had a similar airline tag.

He has pleaded not guilty to the two counts of importation and
possession of marijuana. He will reappear in court 24 April
