Essex Chronicle Gazette

Thursday 09 Mar 2006

---
A Witham man has led a delegation from the Legalise Cannabis Alliance
(LCA) to meet Home Secretary Charles Clarke to talk about drugs policy.

Don Barnard, 64, has been battling for 14 years to arrange a meeting
with a Home Secretary in an attempt to get input into a committee
considering government drugs policy. Mr Barnard said the alliance was
formed in 1999 to bring the issues into mainstream politics.

"The door has been opened," he said.

"I believe at the end of the day we will have a valuable input into how

He said that the Government, which has classified Cannabis as class C,
continued to insist that the drug would not be legalised, which the
alliance want.
