Israel: Marijuana Party Earns 19 Seats in Technion Election

Thursday 23 Mar 2006 The Green Leaf Party pushing to legalize marijuana emerged with an impressive 19 seats in mock elections held in Haifa’s prestigious Technion University. Kadima held second place with 18, Meretz-Yahad 13, Labor 12, National Religious Party/National Union 11, Yisrael Beitenu 10, and Likud 9. In the Hebrew University election, National Religious Party/National Union emerged the victor, with 24 mandates. Meretz-Yahad earned 23, Labor 21, Kadima and Likud 11, Green Leaf 8, and Yisrael Beitenu 7.
