Malaysia: Two deny trafficking in 4,620gm of cannabis

Thursday 06 Apr 2006 SUNGAI PETANI: Two men, including a foreigner, were charged in the magistrate's court here with trafficking in drugs last month. Shamsul Kamar Keria, 31, and Indonesian Awi Mohd Yusof, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them by a court interpreter. They were charged with trafficking five packs of cannabis weighing 4,620gm in front of a shop in Lorong 1, Taman Sutera Batu 2, Jalan Kuala Ketil on March 23. They were charged under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (amendment 2004) which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction. Magistrate Anis Suhaila Yunus fixed July 6 for mention.
