Greece: Smell of student skunk attracts drugs squad
Kathimerini (English)
Wednesday 12 Apr 2006 Two university students were arrested in Athens yesterday after police raided their home and discovered 12.7 kilos of skunk cannabis and almost 200,000 euros in cash. The students, both aged 22, are believed to belong to a larger international drug outfit that smuggles narcotics into Greece from the Netherlands. Police also found small amounts of cocaine in the students’ apartment, located in the northern Athens suburb of Galatsi. Skunk cannabis is a more powerful form of the narcotic often cultivated in cities, since it can be planted in nutrient-rich water and kept in storage rooms. The two suspects allegedly supplied small quantities of skunk cannabis to drug dealers throughout Attica during the last few years.
