UK: Drugs Farm

Newcastle Evening Chronicle

Wednesday 12 Apr 2006

---
A man has escaped being sent to jail after police found a cannabis farm
at his home.

Police discovered 39 plants at Mark Welsh's house, at Lancefield Avenue,
Walker, Newcastle, in December last year.

Officers carried out a search at another home, where Welsh later arrived.

He was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

The 27-year-old appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court and pleaded
guilty to cultivating cannabis. Magistrates imposed a community order
with 150 hours unpaid work. He was also asked to pay £50 costs.
