UK: Festival's Green Bid
icSouthLondon
Friday 21 Apr 2006 A CANNABIS festival organiser is going even greener. Shane Collins from the Green Party has put an application into Lambeth council to hold an urban green fair in Brockwell Park in Brixton. The two-day event on June 17 and 18 would be preceded by a "sane energy march" on foot from Kennington Park and a mass cycle ride from Trafalgar Square in central London. The plans include solar powered cafes, bike fix-it sessions, music and a feast. The application is due to be considered by Lambeth council at its meeting at Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton on Tuesday. Pro-cannabis campaigners including Mr Collins were refused permission by Lambeth council to hold a festival in Brockwell Park last year. Instead they held a march in Trafalgar Square calling for the drug, known as "green", to be legalised.
