Antigua: Youth gets three month sentence for cannabis

Tuesday 25 Apr 2006 Sevon Greenaway was handed a three month sentence at Her Majesty’s Prison after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis. The Grays Farm youth appeared before Magistrate Keith Thom in the St. John’s Magistrates Court, yesterday. The court heard that on 20 April at about 6:30 p.m., officers were on mobile patrol in the Grays Farm area, when they met the accused on Federation Road. Greenaway was arrested on suspicion of committing an offence of larceny. During a search of his person, the police found a transparent plastic bag in his right back pocket. He was shown the substance and admitted it was cannabis. He was arrested and charged.
