Guyana: Blairmont man jailed for narcotics

Wednesday 26 Apr 2006 A man charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $30,000 by Magistrate Kim Kyte-John at the Blairmont Magistrate's Court on Monday. Ray Morgan of Blairmont was also sentenced to one month imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of $10,000 for possession of two grammes of cannabis sativa. Both sentences will run concurrently. The court heard that on March 31 at 10.50 pm the accused was stopped by a mobile patrol and searched and the items were found.
