UK: Chingford cannabis factories growing
Sarah Cosgrove East and West Sussex Guardian
Thursday 04 May 2006 CANNABIS factories have been cropping up in Chingford with alarming regularity in recent months. Last week we reported that cannabis plants and equipment used for growing them was dumped in Lower Hall Lane, off Hall Lane, where Vu's and Nguyen's cannabis factory was discovered. A police spokeswoman said that there was no pattern to where the factories appeared. But a drive by the new Safer Neighbourhoods teams in the area has possibly led to more being uncovered. Most factories are found in rented property, so police targeted estate and letting agents with a letter warning landlords of the risk. The letter gave details of the giveaway signs and listed the teams' numbers so that landlords and agents could alert police to possible factories. If you think there is a cannabis factory operating near you, call the newsdesk on 8498 3454, Chingford police on 8556 8855 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
