UK: Fifth cannabis factory found
Hemel Today
Friday 23 Jun 2006 FIFTH CANNABIS FACTORY FOUND Police uncovered another cannabis factory in Hemel Hempstead this morning - the fifth raided in the town since April. The latest drugs operation was uncovered after police forced their way into a terraced house in Bennetts End Road at around 6.45am. The raid came after members of the local community had reported suspicious activity at the home to the police. Inside the two-storey house, drugs squad officers found hundreds of cannabis plants being grown using sophisticated lighting and ventilation equipment. Inspector Robin Winder from Hertfordshire Police said: "This is a bit of a step up from the factories we've seen before. "They've basically turned a residential property into an industrial unit." Three people of South East Asian appearance were arrested in Hemel Hempstead following the raid. In April, police raided a drugs factory in Grovehill belonging to a Vietnamese gang with links to London. Another cannabis factory in Grovehill and a further two in Adeyfield were uncovered in the weeks that followed. http://www.hemeltoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=841&ArticleID=1581782
