UK: Police seize £60,000 worth of cannabis in raid

Thursday 22 Jun 2006

---
POLICE made a shock discovery on Saturday when a raid revealed a drugs
factory had been operating under the noses of local residents.

The raid, at a four-bedroom terraced property in Clifton Road, uncovered
around 100 cannabis plants, worth £60,000, in various stages of development.

Officers also found that the top floor of the house was being used to
dry the class C drug in preparation for smoking or for further refinement.

The first the residents of Clifton Road knew of the factory however was
when vans of armed police officers arrived at 7.30am.

Police raided the property following a tip off from a member of the public.

It is believed a neighbour spotted water leaking at the back of the
building and informed the landlord on Friday.

The house was deserted when police raided it and no arrests have been made.
