Taiwan: Cannabis grower jailed
Taipei Times
Monday 31 Jul 2006 The Taipei District Court sentenced a 46-year-old man to six months in prison last week for growing cannabis on the balcony of his home in Taipei County. The court said in a written judgment that Yu Chien-wen (余建文) obtained cannabis seeds from two overseas Chinese from the UK during May and June 2002, and used them to grow cannabis plants in flower pots on the balcony and window sills of his seventh-floor house in Sindian. The judgment also said that Yu processed the cannabis leaves into marijuana joints for his own use. When arrested by police in April last year, Yu admitted that he had obtained the cannabis seeds from two Chinese men surnamed Li and Wang, who were UK citizens. Yu said Li had also taught him how to use new hydroponic techniques for growing cannabis in order to shorten the cultivation period. http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2006/07/31/2003321171
