UK: Cannabis dealer jailed

Friday 11 Aug 2006 A CHESTER man convicted of possessing cannabis with intent to supply claimed that a list of names and numbers found by police at his home recorded the plastering work that he had done. Lewis Egerton, 32, said that a second list recorded the amount of meat that he was able to get cheap for family and friends at Christmas. But a judge said the names were a dealer's lists of customers. Egerton, of Dorset Place, Kingsway, Plas Newton, Chester, was sent to prison for eight months by the judge at Mold Crown Court. Judge John Rogers QC said that he had been convicted on overwhelming evidence and he said that he had hoped that the jury had been correct when it found him not guilty on another charge of earlier supply. The judge told him that it did not help his position that he had put forward a ridiculous account in order to explain dealer's lists. The court heard that police found 251 grammes of the class C drug which had a maximum estimated street value of £852. http://iccheshireonline.icnetwork.co.uk/
