UK: The execution of three drugs warrants in Sheffield

Thursday 17 Aug 2006 South Yorkshire Police - Press Release - Sheffield 1 The execution of three drugs warrants in Sheffield yesterday, resulted in the seizure of over £500,000 of cannabis plants. Detectives from the Attercliffe Drugs Unit executed three drugs warrants in two separate areas of Sheffield. One of the properties searched was on Havelock Street in Broomhill where officers affected entry in to a house believed to be a cannabis factory. On searching the premise cannabis plants were recovered from the property at an estimated street value £140,000. A second property on Standon Drive, in Wincobank was searched and officers recovered cannabis plants at an estimated street value of £24,000. Two men aged 26 and 35 years-old were arrested in connection with the production of cannabis. A third property searched also on Standon Drive, in Wincobank officers recovered cannabis plants at an estimated street value of £365,000. A 32 year old woman was arrested in connection with the production of cannabis. DS Bob Chapman from the Attercliffe Drugs Unit said "This is the latest seizure, in our determination, to frustrate and where possible eradicate criminals growing cannabis in large-scale set-ups. In the last 12 months Officers have recovered over £1.5 million pounds worth of cannabis across Sheffield. This proves that we are making a very positive impact into the problem."
