US: Cops find Castro Valley pot farm
San Jose Mercury News
Saturday 30 Sep 2006 Alameda County Sheriff's Office narcotics investigators on Thursday seized an estimated $10 million worth of marijuana plants from an area of unincorporated Castro Valley, Sheriff's Office Sgt. Thomas Madigan reported. An East Bay Regional Parks District helicopter spotted the marijuana grow late last week on a routine patrol, Madigan said. Investigators found four `sophisticated'' grow sites off of Palomares Road and recovered more than 1,350 mature marijuana plants, according to Madigan. Evidence of two recently occupied campsites was discovered as well, Madigan said. An investigation into who is responsible for the operation is ongoing. http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/15648472.htm
