UK: £90,000 of cannabis seized in latest raid
Peterborough Evening Telegraph Wednesday 04 Oct 2006 CANNABIS with a street value of £90,000 was seized when police raided a house in Peterborough today, Wednesday, October 4. A team of 20 police officers targeted the property in Vere Road, New England, at about 7.30am, and a large number of cannabis plants were seized. Meanwhile, three people were arrested and a large amount of a drug believed to be cannabis seized, following a vehicle stop on the A14 yesterday. Officers stopped a Mercedes van at about 4.50pm on the A14 eastbound carriageway, close to Bar Hill, near Cambridge. As part of the operation, a warrant was executed in Silverwood Road, Millfield, Peterborough, where a large number of cannabis plants were also seized. A 16-year-old boy, of no fixed address, a 33-year-old woman from London and a 42-year-old man from London, arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply, are currently being questioned. Both the raid and the van stop were part of Operation Keymer – a two-week crackdown on cannabis factories. Police have also raided homes in Northfield Road, Bourges Boulevard, Cambridge Avenue and Eastfield Road, Peterborough, over the past week, seizing cannabis plants from each. A man appeared in court yesterday in connection with an earlier cannabis raid. Tuan Tran (36) was arrested following a police raid at a house in Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough, on Monday. He is accused of one count of producing cannabis. Tran briefly appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court yesterday, and confirmed his name and address through a Vietnamese interpreter. The case was adjourned until Tuesday, when he will be committed to Peterborough Crown Court for trial. http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/
