---
A MILLIONAIRE grocer who converted his Park Royal factory into a
high-tech cannabis farm was jailed for five years on Tuesday at
Blackfriars Crown Court.

Mohammed Azam, 40, of Penryn Grove, Walthamstow, fitted out his
warehouse with equipment to grow the plants.

Azam's friend, Kashif Mallal, 37, of Westward Way, Kenton, Middlesex,
set up his glazing firm rent-free in the warehouse, so he could look
after the plants.

Both were convicted on charges of conspiracy with others to cultivate
cannabis and of abstracting electricity at a cost of £13,000.

Judge David Martineau said: "You were fully aware of your involvement in
this serious criminal conspiracy and yet you continued to flatly deny
the offences."

Michael Logsdon, prosecuting, said the annual yield was at least 42.5kg
and would have sold for up to £141,750.
