UK: 400,000 UKP cannabis duo jailed
Hoddesdon Mercury
Friday 17 Nov 2006 TWO Hoddesdon men have been jailed after they admitted conspiring to sell "super skunk cannabis" with a street value of £400,000. Edward Buckley and Ricky Salmon were both sent down for three years and four months when they appeared at St Albans Crown Court. Police seized the huge stash of cannabis after following the pair earlier this year. They had followed Buckley, 35, of Benford Road, and Salmon, 36, of High Street, in a Nissan Navara pick-up as they drove from Hertfordshire to a retail park on the outskirts of Coventry. The men collected four boxes of the herbal cannabis, weighing a total of 22lb (48.6kg), and headed south. As the Nissan was driven on the M1 slipway road, the police stopped it and arrested the pair, the court heard. Prosecutor Teresa Hay said the cannabis was analysed and found to have a very high THC (tetra-hydro-cannibol) content of 11 to 15 per cent. She said: "This cannabis is super skunk. It is far more potent and valuable than cannabis with a lower content." She said it had a wholesale value of between £145,000 and £195,000. But if it was dealt on the street in one eighth of an ounce deals the haul would net between £270,000 and £400,000. Buckley and Salmon appeared for sentencing having earlier pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cannabis on March 17 this year. hodd-mercury@hertsessexnews.co.uk http://www.hertsessexnews.co.uk/news/mercury/hoddesdon_mercury/2006/11/17/400000%20cannabis%20duo%20jailed.lpf -- WebBooks Amazing Amazon Store: http://astore.amazon.co.uk/webbooks05
