Bermuda: Man fined for having cannabis
The Royal Gazette
Thursday 07 Dec 2006 A Sandys man who had more than eight grams of cannabis in his possession when he was quizzed by Police has been fined $1,000 in court. Darren Maybury, 27, of School Lane, was spoken to by Police outside a bar in Sandys on May 26 this year. At Magistrates’ Court Maybury pleaded guilty to having the drugs. The court heard that officers smelled cannabis on his clothing and saw him putting his hands in and out of his pockets. They searched him and found a rectangular block of material in a “twist” in his trouser pocket. Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney said: “He was cautioned and asked what it was. He replied ‘Weed, I smoke weed’.” A further search of Maybury revealed more cannabis in his trouser pocket. The total amount recovered was 8.86 grams. Maybury told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that he had found the cannabis just before the Police searched him. Mr Warner fined him $1,000. http://www.theroyalgazette.com/ -- Please sign these petitions: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/search?q=Cannabis+ WebBooks Amazing Amazon Store: http://astore.amazon.co.uk/webbooks05
