Isle of Man: Teenage Trio Imported Cannabis in Car
Isle of Man Today
Thursday 14 Dec 2006 A TEENAGE trio have admitted importing cannabis resin. They bought the drug in Liverpool and returned on the ferry with the drug hid in the engine of a car, the court heard. High Bailiff Michael Moyle remarked: 'It is getting to the stage where 17 year-olds are going to Liverpool to get drugs.' Andrew John Kewley, 17, of King Edward Park, Onchan, and 18-year-olds Matthew Thomas Love, of Nursery Avenue, Onchan, and Ashley Ronald Joseph Harrison, of Barroose Road, Baldrine, each admitted a charge of importing cannabis resin when they appeared in Tuesday's court. In police interview the teenagers said the drug was for their own use. Sergeant Darren Bradford, prosecuting, said police stopped Harrison after he drove off the ferry on October 12. The car was searched and a brown parcel was found in the engine, containing cannabis resin, said Sergeant Bradford. Harrison was arrested. His co-defendants Love and Kewley were also arrested after they disembarked as foot passengers. In interview they admitted having conspired to travel to Liverpool to get the drugs, which were to be divided among them, Sergeant Bradford said. All three teenagers were bailed, for reports, to re-appear for sentence on January 19. http://www.iomonline.co.im/
