Luton Today

Man held after police operation

Police seized more than 200 cannabis plants from an address in Houghton
Regis in the early hours of Thursday morning following a dawn raid.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and
he is currently being interviewed at Dunstable Police Station.

Officers also arrested a further ten people across South Beds for a
variety of offences including assault, theft, fraud, harassment and
criminal damage.

Chief Inspector Mark Turner, who is based at Dunstable Police Station,
said: "These operations, which will be ongoing, send out a clear message
that if you are wanted on warrant, or wanted for crime, you can expect
to find us knocking at your door.

"They also illustrate that Bedfordshire Police are committed to the
fight against drugs and are prepared to dedicate time and resources to
apprehending those involved."

It's part of Operation Scorpion, and comes hot on the heels of a similar
operation last month where 13 people were arrested in the Dunstable area
for a number of crimes.
