UK: Cameron Smoked Cannabis
Vincent Moss Political Editor Sunday Mirror
Sunday 11 Feb 2007 TORY leader David Cameron was punished for smoking cannabis as a schoolboy at posh private school Eton. Then aged 15, he was "gated" - confined to the school grounds - for two weeks in 1982 after admitting he had smoked the drug. His friends are said to have made the disclosure to two authors working on his biography. They hoped to deal with the "drugs issue" well in advance of the next General Election. Mr Cameron, now a married father-of-three, dodged questions about drugs during his 2005 campaign for the Tory leadership. In an interview then he said: "I'm allowed to have had a private life before politics." Last night former Conservative chairman Lord Tebbit said: "I think we have to take a reasoned view about these things, and the question now is whether or not he understands it is a highly dangerous drug and should be treated as such." http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/
