UK: Man faces jail for cannabis factory
North-West Evening Mail
Wednesday 28 Mar 2007 A DRUGGIE caught with a mini-cannabis factory in his home could be jailed. Heroin addict Neil Cammock, 37, of Meetings View, Barrow, appeared before Furness Magistrates’ Court and admitted a string of drug and traffic offences. Prosecutor, Mr Lee Dacre, told the hearing that police raided the defendant’s home on January 14. He explained: “They found a quantity of drug paraphernalia such as pipes and bongs. In a utility room they found cannabis plants, special UV lighting and timers. “They also found foil with a brown substance on it, which was later found to be heroin. “In an interview he told police that he smoked the heroin off the foil with a rolled up tube.” Mr Dacre said the traffic incident took place when Cammock was spotted on a motorbike with no lights and pulled over by police. Mr Mike Graham, defending, asked that magistrates give his client full credit for his early guilty plea. He added that he had decided to grow his own cannabis after being given some seeds. He admitted supplying to friends but received no payment. Mr Graham added: “It was for his own personal use. “Sometimes friends would come to his house and he would give them about one gramme to take away with them. “No money exchanged hands and it was just enough for a smoke or two.” He said Cammock had started using heroin again for pain relief after he ended up with an injured knee after a car smash. He explained his client was now off the Class A drug and on methadone as he attempted to beat his addiction. Cammock admitted possession of heroin and cannabis. He also pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis and producing cannabis plants, plus supplying cannabis on January 13 and possession of heroin on January 9. Two other charges of supplying cannabis and heroin were also admitted and taken into consideration. Cammock also pleaded guilty to riding a Suzuki 350 motorbike on Walney Road, Barrow, on December 12, while having no insurance, MOT or licence. Presiding magistrate, Mr Gary Ormondroyd, told the defendant he was asking for reports before sentencing: He said:“We are asking for an all options report and not ruling out custody.” http://www.nwemail.co.uk/news/viewarticle.aspx?id=481104
