Wales: Arrests after cannabis plants found
Peter Collins South Wales Echo
Saturday 31 Mar 2007 A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested following the discovery of another South Wales cannabis factory. Police raided a house in Treharne Road, Barry, and discovered a "cannabis plantation" of 42 plants worth an estimated £4,500. It is the latest in a series of drugs raids in the Vale of Glamorgan. Last week, four cannabis plants were found in a police raid on a house in Gibbonsdown. A man was arrested. Meanwhile, two men and a woman have been charged after police found a cannabis factory at a house in Wellwood Drive, Dinas Powys. In the biggest drugs find in the Vale of Glamorgan, police recovered more than 1,000 cannabis plants worth an estimated £137,000. Insp Andy Rice said: "Possession of cannabis is still illegal and its cultivation is still considered a serious offence. "We will take action when we have information that cultivation is taking place at an address as the warrants we have recently executed show. "If you are involved in the supply of any type of drug, the police will target you."
