Fiji: Man lands jail term for drugs
Fiji Times
Thursday 05 Apr 2007 A MAN found in possession of more than 1700 grams of marijuana was sentenced yesterday to jail for three years and nine months. High Court judge Justice Nazhat Shameem said Kelepi Ledua pleaded guilty to two charges of being in unlawful possession of illicit drugs. She said Ledua was in possession of 1765.8 grams of marijuana on June 29, 2006, at Matei in Taveuni. In March this year he was found in possession of 36.4 grams of marijuana. "In the Taveuni case you were arrested and found to have in your possession cannabis," Justice Shameem said. Your home was searched and more cannabis was found. Under caution you said you had bought the drugs from Suva and had intended to sell it in Taveuni. In the Suva case, you were searched at the Suva market police post and found to have in your possession, 77 sachets of foil wrapped leaves. You told the police you had bought it for your own use." http://www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=60182 -- LCA on Myspace; http://www.myspace.com/cannabis_people_uk
