UK: Cannabis factories are raided
Hendon and Finchley Times
Wednesday 04 Apr 2007 Two cannabis factories have been closed by police following dawn raids in West Hendon. Officers entered the properties, in Stuart Avenue and Brent Park Road, at 6.30am last Thursday as part of the ongoing Operation Cod, which has seen 41 factories shut in the borough since April last year. Around 600 plants were found in rooms at the Stuart Avenue address, capable of producing drugs with an estimated street value of around £60,000. At the Brent Park Road property, around 250 plants, valued at £25,000, were recovered from eight different rooms. No one was found at either house, and no arrests were made. advertisement Equipment used to grow the drugs was removed and destroyed at a central London warehouse. PC Jim Kellett, drugs intelligence officer said: "I am extremely pleased with today's find which is one of the largest the borough has ever seen. We are determined to continue tackling this issue and closing these premises down. This activity hits the person responsible where it hurts - in the pocket. "In my experience these factories are always run from privately rented large houses in quiet residential streets. If you have any concerns about a what a property in your road may be being used for, please contact the police in confidence." http://www.hendontimes.co.uk/ -- LCA on Myspace; http://www.myspace.com/cannabis_people_uk
