Spain: Drug smuggling network broken up on Cadiz coast
Typically Spanish Wednesday 04 Apr 2007 Ten arrests were made in Vejer de la Frontera and Barbate on Tuesday The Civil Guard have broken up a network of drug smugglers which brought large quantities of cannabis into Spain via the coast of Vejer de la Frontera. Christened ‘Operation Espuma,’ it started at the beginning of February and has seized since then 1.2 tons of the drug and confiscated four vehicles – one stolen – and a boat. Three people were taken into custody in that first phase. The final phase of the operation was on Tuesday when nine properties were searched in Vejer and Barbate, under warrants issued by Instruction Court No. 2 in Barbate.
