UK: Police Bust 25,000 Pound-a-Year Drugs Factory
The Sentinel, Stoke
Friday 20 Apr 2007 Police have busted a major cannabis factory in Stoke-on-Trent. They say the discovery in a house at Alberta Street, Dresden, dwarfs others made the city in recent months. One man - believed to be in his late 20s early 30s - was arrested and taken away for questioning following the raid, at 9.05am. The operation was pre-planned and involved detectives from Stoke-on-Trent CID. Hundreds of cannabis plants were found, filling every room in the large Victorian terraced house and nestling amid a sophisticated lighting and feeding system. Police say the class C drugs would have yielded at least £40,000 if sold on the streets - and as a rolling operation would have been worth £250,000 a year. A spokesman for Stoke-on-Trent Police Division said: "This is the ninth address we've raided since January and is part of an ongoing operation to tackle the supply of drugs in the city." http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/ -- LCA on Myspace; http://www.myspace.com/cannabis_people_uk
